Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.
The Carlsbad Flower Fields are an attraction that bring locals and tourists from March to May! The cost is $16/ticket which may be a bit steep for college students and recent grads. Everyone wants to know, “Is it really worth it?” My answer, well it’s complicated.
The Flower Fields are exactly what it sounds like… fields of flowers. Rows and Rows of different colored flowers. Each color has an opening for photo opportunities. So you can just walk along the trails through each color of flowers, or use each color as a photo op.
There are also small stands to get lemonade, kettle corn, and other snacks. In addition to the colorful fields, there is a garden with arches with plants to walk around and sit in. Other fun activities include carriage rides (at an additional cost) and a hedge maze. I would definitely recommend it for families, the kids can play in the hedges or the family can take a carriage ride through the fields together.
The other audience I would definitely recommend it to are photographers and bloggers. Obviously the gorgeous colors and flowers make a great backdrop. There’s also a rustic tractor (below) that is fun to shoot on. So if it is for photographic purposes 100% recommend.
However, for people that are just students and have no interest in going on a carriage ride or are really interested in many pictures, then yes I would say the tickets are too expensive just for that experience. However, if you’re looking for somewhere beautiful to stroll for an hour than you can’t go wrong at the Carlsbad Flower Fields.
My last piece of advice for those visiting is to CHECK THE WEATHER! These clouds made great lighting and fun effects but it was RAINING on Grace and I while we were taking the pictures. Notice my hair go from down to up (below) because the rain made it to frizzy. The frizzy hair wasn’t the worst part. Standing in the rain freezing in a tank top was! But hey, what’s an adventure without something going wrong.
