I visited Parakeet Cafe Little Italy, one of three of their San Diego locations. Similar to Holy Matcha, Parakeet Cafe offers a beautiful aesthetic along with a variety of healthy options making it a must visit for San Diego Brunch.
Parakeet Cafe prides themselves as “ethically sourced healthy eats”. They live up to that by offering a large variety of Gluten Free, Vegan, Organic, and non-GMO options along with adaptogenic and probiotic drinks!
From left to right, we ordered the Tumeric Latte, Healthy Breakfast Bowl, Lemon Blueberry Pancakes, and Matcha Waffle.
Along with the bright walls and bird pillows, the fresh ingredients make your plate pop with color too.
I would 100% recommend their drinks. It cost about as much as a Starbucks coffee but much more beneficial to your body.
The food is delicious and flavorful there is no doubt about that. It might feel “grainy” in texture if you are not familiar with gluten free bread. I guarantee it tastes great and it feels great knowing it is good for you.
The only downside to Parakeet Cafe is the steep cost. Although expensive brunch seems to be the current trend, it is not what I would consider budget-friendly. Averaging around $10 – $15 a plate, Parakeet Cafe is more of a “Treat Yourself” brunch location.
I particularly liked the Little Italy Parakeet Cafe location because it neighbours a Salt & Straw, a health-conscious ice cream parlor. Plus if you visit on a Wednesday or Saturday morning you can walk around the Little Italy Farmer’s Market and buy some of your own locally grown food and products. (I picked up some awesome succulents!)
Parakeet Cafe is only located in San Diego County but can also be found in La Jolla and Del Mar which I will definitely be stopping by soon!
Great!
