Butchart Gardens contains over 900 types of flowers and plants. It is one of the most colorful and beautiful landscapes I have ever seen, I felt like I had walked into an interactive painting.
We spent 3 to 4 hours at Butchart Gardens which was enough time to see everything and stop for lunch.
The hours vary by season, in Spring it is open 9 to 5 and tickets are $32. Helpful note for travellers: Butchart Gardens will hold your luggage for you at an additional cost.
Jennie Butchart began this garden because she was tired of the depressing cement that had taken away the beauty of the land. In 1912 Butchart began the Sunken Garden and developed the other gardens over time.
Butchart Gardens is made up of 5 different gardens: Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, and Mediterranean Garden.
There are no words to describe the amount of beauty these gardens hold. While there, Tulips quickly became my new favorite flower, especially the “Crowned Tulip” (yellow). Cody joked that I was photographing every tulip I saw but honestly I wish I would have taken more! Please enjoy my tulip photography below.
The Dining Room
There are two restaurants at Butchart Gardens, The Dining Room and Blue Poppy Restaurant. We ate at The Dining Room because it had an absolutely breathtaking view of the Gardens at all angles. It was more expensive than Blue Poppy but was well worth it. The food was fresh, flavorful, and definitely delicious. Would recommend!

Stay:
We stayed at Ivana’s very clean Airbnb. It was very private we were separated from the rest of the house. It was also a quick bus stop away from downtown. It was very affordable and beyond my expectations for its value. 110% recommend.

Flight: AirCanada.
Bus: $5 for a bus day pass in Victoria. The bus gets you just about anywhere but they only take cash. We exchanged currency in advance to be able to pay for our bus tickets. (This is different in Vancouver).
Ferry: To get from Vancouver to Victoria, and vice versa, we took a Ferry which is $17/person.
If you are completely running on public transportation you will also have to take a few busses with separate bus tickets for the Victoria system and the Vancouver system.
Wow! Beautiful pics!
