If you’ve seen Netflix’s hit movie, “To all the Boys: Always and Forever”, I’m sure you also fell in love with the cartoonist cafe. The original cafe, as seen in the movie, is Cafe Yeonnam-Dong 223-14, located in South Korea! But I’ve found a local San Diego Cafe, S3 Coffee Bar, that has a similar aesthetic. This, along with fun color changing, glittered drinks, S3 Coffee Bar is worthy of our top San Diego brunch spot list.
S3 Coffee Bar is a coffee shop located in San Diego, off Mission Gorge Road. They offer a variety of fun, aesthetic drinks including teas, coffees, lemonades, and smoothies. Their seasonal menu (which changes every few months) includes a variety of non-coffee drinks priced around $5 – $7. I tried the “Ursula’s Revenge” drink, a color changing lemonade. I’d definitely want to go back and try a variety of others including “Pink Pitaya”, a dragonfruit, strawberry lemonade with gold glitter, “Rose Gold”, an almond beet tea latte, and pink or blue matcha drinks. For those who just want to enjoy the atmosphere while sticking to their favs, S3 Coffee Bar also offers a variety of classic tea and coffees as well for the same price as your average Starbucks drink.
In addition to drinks, S3 Coffee Bar’s food selection includes flatbreads, sandwiches, toasts, acai bowls, and pastries. I had the chicken pesto flatbread, which was a decent price, more affordable than some of my other favorite San Diego brunch places including Parakeet Cafe, and Holy Matcha. I’d assume because the food was good yet simple, not as decoratively elaborate as the other brunch places, but I’d love to go back and try the Mermaid Toast!
In addition to the cartoonist corner, there are a variety of beautiful pink decorations and gorgeous light fixtures. Including this unicorn table!
Enjoying the aesthetic was the main reason I headed out to S3 Coffee Bar! If you plan to do the same, make sure you plan your trip between 8A and 3P while the indoor atmosphere is open, if you are going for the drinks, the drive through is open until 530pm on weekdays and 7pm on weekdays.
